Dermal filler is a synthetic gel like product which was designed to replace and hydrate the loss of volume in the face and/or augment to create shape and definition. The results ultimately are to diminish existing lines and wrinkles, creating a softer look.
Dermal filler is predominately made of hyaluronic acid (HA) within the UK. As HA is one of the safest forms of dermal filler on the market, with a reversing antidote available for complications.
At Cotswold & County Aesthetics we use Allergan’s Juvéderm Ultra and Vycross range of dermal filler in view of its soft and forgiving results creating a natural look.

Dermal filler can be used to enhance or augment the lips to give more shape, add volume to thin lips and create a fuller and more defined appearance. The most common fillers are made from hyaluronic acid, a natural building block of skin, and calcium hydroxylapatite, typically found in bones. Both have been shown to help stimulate the growth of collagen in addition to plumping the skin.
Lip filler is can last anything from 6 -12 months depending on product choice and volume injected. Other factors that should be considered that can affect longevity are social factors such as smoking and drinking, environmental factors such as UV rays, can all have an impact on how long the filler will last. Achieving your desired result can vary from person to person and generally a slow build-up of lip filler is usually required. Sadly, a quick fix or a straight one mil of dermal filler isn’t as effective. Creating the perfect pout takes time and patience and long-term maintenance is also required.
Choosing the right practitioner that is medically trained is paramount to any dermal filler procedure. Whilst there are no regulations currently which monitors who can purchase and administer dermal filler, it is important to know and understand that if any problems should arise as a result of the treatment, the non-medical person would be unable to correct this work based on prescription only medications being unavailable to them.
We use Juvéderm Ultra and Vycross range of products as these are short chain products that yield natural and soft results. Allergan’s Juvéderm saturate 75% of the UK dermal filler market and has many years of researched papers written confirming it efficacy and suitability.
Here at Cotswold & County Aesthetics we create a defined and fuller lip using our own technique called the B.o.B. This approach is unique to Cotswold & County Aesthetics and has been proven to enhance the lip with full but natural results. We start by using a Vycross product to shape, define and scaffold the lips. The second treatment using an Ultra product will create volume and projection. The cost of this procedure is £160 for the first part, £120 for the second. We do offer our standard half mil and full mil of dermal filler; however, we find the B.o.B is a more effective approach to augmentation.

The small lines around the mouth are formed in the same way as the lines around the eyes or forehead, in that they are mostly caused by muscle movement. We move these muscles when eating and drinking and each time the muscle contracts the skin bunches together to form what we call a ‘wrinkle’. This repetitive movement can result in a permanent line that, over time, can become a deeper wrinkle.
We use dermal filler to smooth out the lines around the mouth and there are varying fillers that can achieve this. Dermal fillers are essentially hydrating and/or volume-building fluids that are injected under the skin using a small needle. This works well for very fine lines that just need some hydration, but as soon as you start adding a lot of volume it can start to look unnatural. Its vital that the correct product and technique is used in this area as too much dermal filler may distort the overall appearance.
Here at Cotswold & County Aesthetics we recommend Juvéderm Volbella as this is a soft and forgiving product that isn’t volumising but hydrating. The idea of injecting this area is to replace volume lost instead of augmentation.

Dermal filler is used to fill the lines which travel from the nasal area to the corners of the mouth commonly known as smile lines. These skin features appear with age and whilst smile lines are extremely common, their severity can vary from person to person. Using dermal filler and an Ultra range product, we are able to considerably reduce the appearance of these lines. Dermal filler will add volume to this area which assists in filling and lifting of the fold. There is little to no recovery time associated with this treatment and is performed within 30 minutes following consultation.
The quantity of dermal filler required depends on the depth of the fold. We advise a full face to face consultation to assess the quantity required before proceeding to treatment. Some people experience slight bruising and some sensitivity following treatment but this quickly subsides.
However, fillers are a short-term solution. They last 6 months to 2 years, with most lasting 6 to 9 months. How long a filler lasts depends on the type of filler and how quickly your body dissolves it.

Downturn of the mouth and marionette lines develop predominantly in view of the mechanical action of the mouth and age. Although external factors such as social and environmental aspects may contribute to this, the severity may vary from person at person.
Hyaurlonic acid (HA) is produced naturally within the body, however production of HA production reduces with age and plays an indispensable role in giving shape to your face. The natural acid helps attract and retain moisture in the skin. The synthetic HA fillers also serve the same function as the acid attracts water at an exceedingly high rate, the water fills up the hollows which prevents skin sagging and ultimately leads to the disappearance of laughing lines.
Besides fillers, marionette lines are also treated using wrinkle relaxing injections. Fillers are similar to Botox injections in that they are both administered by an injection, but that is as far as the similarities go. These treatment methods operate on very different principles.
Fillers, as the name implies, work by filling up the affected area. Botox injections however introduce chemicals, known as neurotoxin, to facial skin. These neurotoxins are meant to relax the activity of some facial muscles thus treating the conditions that the overactive muscles create. Deactivating these muscles often reduces the appearance of wrinkles.
However, at Cotswold & County Aesthetics we recommend dermal filler over botox to treat the lower face.

Chin & Jawline Filler
Jawline filler is excellent at tightening and reshaping the jawline to help rejuvenate the face to create a defined jaw. There are many benefits to this, as well as maintaining a youthful appearance, we are able to augment a chin and jawline that is naturally disproportionate creating projection and symmetry.
The improvement in your jawline will be immediately apparent and depending on the type of dermal filler used, the effect may last between 9 – 18 months. Repeat treatments can be performed where required.
Although jaw line enhancement is considered to be quite safe, there is a risk of bruising, tenderness, redness or swelling, which will usually resolve without any intervention. Sometimes, lumps may form under the skin due to accumulation of the filler in certain areas. This may be easily with some intervention and a timely review by your practitioner.
A full face to face consultation is required to assess the existing shape of the chin and jawline, discuss expectations and desired results. In most cases creating a desired result takes time and patience and top ups may be required.
Each treatment and jawline definition filler are tailored towards your unique shape and in view of this, exact pricing will be discussed at the consultation after a full assessment.

Non Surgical Rhinoplasty
The Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty corrects the nose using long lasting dermal fillers without the need for costly surgery. This form of treatment is advocated over major ENT surgery in view of it being less invasive, minimal downtime and less costly.
Fillers can be used to improve the look of a variety of noses. The most common problem that people seek treatment for is the Dorsal bump; this is the classic bump on the bridge of the nose that can give it a hook like appearance.
It is also possible to lift the tip of the nose, by injecting the base of the tip with filler, the nose is given more support and the droop in the tip is lessened.
Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty is commonly used to correct complications that can arise from surgical nose jobs.

During our 30’s, volume changes begin to happen. These changes are associated with many things including: environmental, sun damage and social factors such as smoking and drinking. Fat pads present in our faces begin to shrink and this gives rise to a sunken look to the face, enlarging the occipital hollow and jowls can start to appear. As you age you lose a considerable amount of facial subcutaneous fat which can result in a loss of volume and elasticity. This may highlight hollow cheekbones which can cause someone to appear gaunt and ageing.
As a result of these naturally occurring changes the face profile doesn’t meet your desired taste. Dermal fillers help you to regain a youthful curve to the cheek and a strong facial contour. It restores the lost volume and encourages a gentle lifting effect by injecting filler into the desired areas.
As with all facial reconstructive fillers, the overall amount of dermal filler required is subjective based on the overall outcome and the volume of product required to achieve this. At Cotswold & County Aesthetics we use a specific Cheek Augmentation technique and a combination of Juvederm products to create a soft and gradual projection of the cheek and uplifting of the jowl.
The longevity of the dermal fillers also depends on how quickly your body breaks down the dermal filler, however the suggested longevity is around 12-24 months.

Tear Trough Filler is a dermal filler that is injected into the ‘trough’ underneath the eye to decrease the hollowness of the area. Commonly known as ‘eye bags,’ or ‘dark circles’ the trough of the eye or occipital hollow can appear dark and undesirable. There are many factors that contribute to this physical change to the skin. The ongoing ageing process and/or with social and environmental factors may contribute and increase depth and discolouration which can worsen over time. This can create the appearance of looking ‘tired’ in some people.
Unfortunately, there isn’t anything to reverse the effects of this. However, this is where Tear Trough Filler can help.
Dermal Filler is injected into the Tear Trough via a microcannula – an extremely thin tube. An insertion point is made around the cheekbone area so that the microcannula can be fed through. This means that dermal filler can be injected more precisely and carefully into the delicate area under the eye. The cannula technique allows for less chance of bruising and is less uncomfortable. More importantly, the cannula technique is a much safer procedure around this highly sensitive area.
The results of dermal filler within the tear trough area is visible straight away, top ups of filler are fairly common. With all HA Dermal Filler, once the filler is in place under the eye, this area tends to absorb more fluid from the body after the treatment. This means that the tear trough remains hydrated, therefore, looking refreshed and plumper.
