Smokers Lines
The small lines around the mouth are formed in the same way as the lines around the eyes or forehead, in that they are mostly caused by muscle movement. We move these muscles when eating and drinking and each time the muscle contracts the skin bunches together to form what we call a ‘wrinkle’. This repetitive movement can result in a permanent line that, over time, can become a deeper wrinkle.
We use dermal filler to smooth out the lines around the mouth and there are varying fillers that can achieve this. Dermal fillers are essentially hydrating and/or volume-building fluids that are injected under the skin using a small needle. This works well for very fine lines that just need some hydration, but as soon as you start adding a lot of volume it can start to look unnatural. It’s vital that the correct product and technique is used in this area as too much dermal filler may distort the overall appearance.

what we use
Here at Cotswold & County Aesthetics we recommend Juvéderm Volbella as this is a soft and forgiving product that isn’t volumising but hydrating. The idea of injecting this area is to replace volume lost instead of augmentation.
